The tandanus catfish is an Australian native that can be found in the rivers, creeks, and lakes of the Northern Territory, Queensland, and New South Wales. They are bottom dwellers and prefer still or slow-moving water. These fish can reach up to 2 feet in length and weigh up to 10 pounds.
The tandanus catfish has a long, eel-like body with a broad head and small eyes. It has a brown to olive coloration with lighter undersides. They have two long barbels (whiskers) on their chins which they use to find food on the river bottom. It is also a popular sport fish.
